Massport and the FAA continue to permit noise torture and sleep deprivation
As of about 9:00 p.m. on November 14, 520 planes flew over the 4R path, over the same homes in Milton and Dorchester, MA. They begin before 5:00 a.m. They continued to fly well into the night and restarted at 5:00 a.m. on November 15, leaving many with fewer than five ours of sleep. And it’s been going on for days.
Is five hours of sleep sufficient? According to studies at Harvard University, it is not:
The price of insufficient sleep may be poor health. Study after study has revealed that people who sleep poorly are at greater risk for a number of diseases and health problems…Lack of sleep exacts a toll on perception and judgment. In the workplace, its effects can be seen in reduced efficiency and productivity, errors, and accidents. Sometimes the effects can even be deadly, as in the case of drowsy driving fatalities.
