My beautiful property is now a nightmare of sleep deprivation

Shared by: Mary O’Connor, Roslindale, MA

I moved to Roslindale around 3 years ago after living 22 years in San Francisco. I did a gut renovation with central AC and a fireplace, two large porches and a huge yard (by SF standards) to grow flowers and organic vegetables. Starting this year my beautiful living space has been a nightmare of sleep deprivation, anxiety and irritability. I work from home for a company based in SF so technically I could sleep an extra 3 hours – hah! I can barely hear clients on the phone and am constantly irritated trying to concentrate on my work.

Starting this year my beautiful living space has been a nightmare of sleep deprivation, anxiety and irritability.

I actively complain to MassPort, the FAA and politicians and am part of neighborhood coalitions. Some people will find this silly and unprofessional but I believe that anything that calls attention to our plight is worth the effort. Many people have said they’d love these people to spend the night at their house to see what it’s like.

Many people, I’m sure, think we’re exaggerating.

So I decided rather than my usual anger filled complaint I would try good old-fashioned sarcasm. I sent these “ invitations” to the governor, our 2 senators, my rep in Congress, attorney general Maura Healy, the head of the FAA, MassPort CEO, all the MassPort board members individually, Logan control tower, and TRACON, each one personalized. Feel free to use the idea!
